Program registration with payment plans for families

  • Registration
  • Payment plans
  • Stripe

A season of hockey is a significant expense for a family. For Phaneuf Hockey, we added payment plans to the registration website so parents can pay a deposit and spread the balance over monthly or biweekly installments. They can see the amounts and payment dates before signing up.

The site covers development programs, camps and mental preparation sessions. Parents create a family account, add their child's profile and choose a program. Their registrations and required agreements stay in the account.

Building the program options

We developed tools for defining age groups, schedules and program options. Programs can have separate spaces for players and goalies, choices of training days and breaks in the schedule. The registration process checks those rules as the parent makes their selections.

Managing the installments

The application calculates the deposit and payment schedule for the selected program. If a parent joins after the schedule has started, it includes earlier installments in the amount due at registration.

Stripe processes the payments. Families can check their schedule and receipts in their account, update their card and resolve a failed payment. The selected sessions can also be added to the athlete's calendar.

Development details

React and TypeScript power the website, with Node.js and PostgreSQL handling registration records. Clerk manages accounts and Stripe processes payments. We developed the program rules and installment calculations around those services.
